5G is taking concrete steps towards commercialization, and these steps are very much present at this year’s MWC. While supporting the 5G exploitation in Finland and at University of Oulu have also already started the research and development work with 6G.
University of Oulu, and City of Oulu in Finland have been forerunners in wireless ICT technologies for decades. Oulu has among other things been called a city where 5G Lives. They have solid knowledge base and collaboration ecosystem to develop new wireless ICT solutions and turn them into business. As a forerunner they are constantly working with the future technologies. With 5G technology on the cusp of commercialization, Finland has already launched pioneering 6G research under the recently formed 6G Flagship, which is operated by University of Oulu.
The 6G Flagship will be present at Mobile World Congress 2019. You are more than welcome to visit them at the Finland Pavilion in hall 5, place 5C41 (https://www.businessfinland.fi/en/do-business-with-finland/mwc/).
You can also hear more about 6GFlagship in Finland Pavilion event, which takes place on Tuesday 26.2. 17:00-18:30 (https://www.businessfinland.fi/en/whats-new/events/2019/5g6g-panel-discussion-in-barcelona/). Vice-director of the 6GFlagship, Professor Ari Pouttu will be then giving a key note about the 6G research.
Experts are looking forward giving you more information about next generation wireless ICT and its opportunities. They would also be happy to give you world’s first 6G product.
6G Flagship is also arranging the world's first 6G Wireless Summit, which will be held at the Levi resort in Finnish Lapland on 24-26 March 2019. The aim of the summit is to identify the key challenges towards 6G, potential applications calling for 6G, drafting technical requirements as well as candidate technologies towards the 2030 era. The program consists of invited speakers from leading beyond 5G and 6G research programs and initiatives around the world, including policy-makers, research institutes, operators, manufacturers and leading academics.
