Basware (Nasdaq: BAS1V), the global leader in networked source-to-pay solutions, e-invoicing and innovative financing services, has launched an easy way for buyers to send electronic purchase orders (POs) to their suppliers. The new SmartOrders service advances collaboration between buyers and suppliers in the procurement process via actionable emails.
“Purchase orders are still exchanged between buyers and suppliers in a variety of different formats – including via mail, fax or phone – which then have to be manually entered and processed, resulting in increased costs and inefficiencies on both sides of the equation. With the new SmartOrders service, customers can eliminate tedious paper and manual processes,” explains Martin Lux, Senior Product Manager for Basware.
Using the SmartOrders functionality, buyers can send POs in a PDF format to their supplier base using actionable emails and suppliers can receive the POs from the email. Suppliers do not have to register or log into any application to use this service, which significantly increases supplier adoption. Suppliers then have the option to send order responses and flip the POs into invoices, enabling further automation, which leads to cost savings, efficiencies, visibility, control, and better data quality.
SmartOrders is part of Basware’s comprehensive e-Orders for Buyers services, which offer buyers multiple ways to electronically send POs to their suppliers – including delivery via the Basware Portal, electronic delivery via the network, EDI delivery, and now in PDF format via email leveraging the new SmartOrders.
The e-Orders for Buyers service is easy and scalable and delivers several benefits:
- Cost savings by getting rid of paper and manual processes
- Increased efficiencies by automating communication between buyers and suppliers
- Enhanced visibility and control over POs
- Improved data quality and accuracy resulting in fewer wrong deliveries
