Cosmo Connected is one of the major products unveiled last January at CES. Three months later, the first smart brake light for two-wheels that attaches to the motorcyclist’s helmet is available in preorder on Kickstarter at the price of 99 euros, from April 26. The deliveries are starting in July. Cosmo Connected acts as a rear brake light at eye-level and automatically alerts the emergency services and third parties in case of an accident thanks to a mobile app with geo-tracking. Cosmo Connected ensures the safety of all drivers and brings them back their peace of mind.
Making Roads Safe for Everybody
Half of the accidents between cars and two-wheels occur because of negligent automobile drivers. Thus, Cosmo Connected is the obvious solution that everybody was waiting for to improve the road safety worldwide. Cosmo Connected is a smart rear brake light that allows riders to gain visibility when they decelerate. Attached to the back of the helmet, the warning light made up of 24 LED is visible at eye-level and gives a better signal to surrounding drivers that the regular stop lights, positioned lower than the two wheels. For Romain Afflelou, president of Cosmo Connected: “After the stunning enthusiasm we witnessed for Cosmo Connected at the Las Vegas CES, we are happy to launch the product that will finally serve its purpose: offer more security to two-wheelers, and making roads safer for all.”
The New Version of Cosmo Connected, Lighter and Safer
If Cosmo Connected has already seduced at Las Vegas, the prototype was redesigned to offer even more security to its users. The LED number went from 12 to 24, for a better visibility of the motorcyclist. There are several diffusion options that can be adjusted from the app: either a constant red light or a blinking light to serve as a warning in case of potential danger or any event.
The design also evolved, making Cosmo Connected lighter (less than 150g) and perfectly fit for the helmet’s shape and curves. The module can be attached to any helmet thanks to its magnetic support, for bikes as well as motorcycles. Its lithium polymer battery has an eight-hour battery life in light mode, and charges via a mini USB port. Battery level charge is visible in real time on the app. Cosmo Connected has a mat and translucid finish.
Alerting the Emergency Service and Third Parties in Case of an Accident in less than 3 minutes
The module works with an app that alerts emergency services and/or third parties in case of an accident and enhances the motorcyclist’s safety. It is up to the user to choose whether to activate geo-tracking and the people to contact in any event. The alert service has two options: • Free alerts: a text message is sent to the drive; third parties receive the geo- by email; • Premium paid service: eCall relay to dispatch emergency services to the accident site. To aid emergency responders in giving medical care, users can add important medical history to the mobile app to provide specific medical requests, medication allergies and blood type.
