A few months ago, Dutch company Travis B.V. began a crowdfunding campaign aiming to raise funds for its personal voice translator powered by AI, which translates instantly between users speaking different languages.
After being successfully crowdfunded from 100 countries the first 5,000 pre-orders are being produced and will begin shipping to all early adopters already this summer, with the next ones planned for September 2017. It’s the first company to deliver to market such a revolutionary product so successfully crowdfunded only a few months back.
“We don’t want to wait to produce perfect translations, as basic ones can already make a big difference in understanding and communicating. Those receiving the first devices will not only be able to understand others better, but they will also contribute to technology improvement.” said Lennart van der Ziel, CEO of Travis.
In order to do this, Travis is on the mission to create a strong community of 50,000 active users before the end of the year, who will always receive updates as the product is being continuously improved.
Now it launches local activation campaigns in Spain www.travistraductor.es/lanzamiento and the Netherlands www.travistolk.nl/lancering, where it encountered the highest interest, in pursuit of its mission to create a world without language barriers where everyone can have an equal voice. Travis is set to build a strong user base of supporters who will be essential in providing the necessary feedback.
Inspired by UN Sustainable Development Goals to reduce inequality and ensure inclusive and quality education for all, Travis is also partnering up with local Spanish and Dutch social organizations, which will be announced shortly, to promote its social cause.
The devices can still be pre-ordered on Indiegogo / InDemand platform:
