5G Americas, the industry trade association and voice of 5G and LTE for the Americas, today announced the election of Shaw Communications Inc. to its Board of Governors. Shaw will join 17 of the wireless industry’s leading operators and manufacturers on the Board to work on progressing 5G, and further advancement and innovation for LTE technology, in the Americas region.
“As a technology leader in Western Canada, Shaw has been advocating for innovative and affordable mobile wireless services throughout their region,” stated Chris Pearson, President of 5G Americas. “We are honored to have Shaw being represented by Zoran Stakic on our Board of Governors as we move toward spectrum harmonization, technology advancement and 5G throughout the entire Americas region.”

Their Wireline division connects families and businesses in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario through a hybrid fibre-coax network with broadband Internet, video and phone services, and Shaw Go WiFi — the country’s largest Wi-Fi network. Through Freedom Mobile, Shaw provides consumers in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario with voice and data services through a wireless network infrastructure that is quickly expanding and improving.
